Sitting Bull Memorial

Indian Country

The Sitting Bull Memorial is on a bluff overlooking the Missouri River in South Dakota. It is here that descendants of Sitting Bull's family as well as the Dakota Memorial Association reinterred Sitting Bull's remains from Fort Yates, ND on April 8, 1953.  The site was officially dedicated three days later on April 11, 1953.  The stone carving was sculpted by famed "Crazy Horse Memorial" sculptor, Korczak Ziolkowsky.
